Ria Vandervis (Miratrix, Overdrive) continued her recurring role on "Packed to the Rafters," making her fifth appearance in the episode titled "Out of Left Field," where she reprised her role as Layla, Nathan Rafter's boss who has shown her romantic interest in him, despite him being married. In this episode, Nathan arrives at a restaurant for their dinner meeting with a client only to find Layla, who claims the client cancelled at the last minute. She'd rather they enjoy dinner together and clear the air, given the awkwardness after their kiss. But when Nathan spots his wife Sammy having a business dinner with her ex in the same restaurant, things get ugly. Layla tries to smooth things over with Sammy and uses her manipulative charm to get Sammy to sympathize with her because of her boyfriend problems. Layla & Sammy call a truce but when Sammy suggests she write an article on Layla, Vandervis' character lets it slip to Sammy that she kissed Nathan, causing even more trouble for the couple.
