Keith Robinson on "American Dreams" - 13 (2003)

Keith Robinson's (Joel, Lightspeed) recurring role as Nathan Walker continued in the music-driven drama "American Dreams" continued in the Season 1 episode, "High Hopes." It marked the first time Robinson showed off his skills as a singer. Early in the episode, Nathan spends some time in a church, playing piano and singing when he's discovered by teenager, Luke Foley. The white teen sits in on the piano, accompanying him on a song. It's a pivotal scene for Robinson's character, as Nathan's outspoken anger against racism had been a driving force since his introduction. Nathan shows the possibility of finding a connection to someone of a different race. Luke invites Nathan to join the church choir. This occurs just as tensions in Philadelphia continue to rise between African Americans and the police. With reports of riots in Harlem, a curfew is on the police agenda. Nathan and his friends, though, have no intention of obeying the rule. Nathan is present for yet another altercation with the police, a prelude to the show's season finale.

Season 1 of "American Dreams" is available on DVD
