2007: A Look Back

2007 was a very good year for several Power Ranger alums. "After the Power" was pleased to post 2007 projects featuring 21 different Power Rangers actors, which is a definite success. Several of those actors appeared multiple times on one series in recurring roles or as contract players. So, as we look forward to more in 2008, "After the Power" takes a moment to look back at all of the posts from this year that featured PR actors in 2007.

Former Ranger, Roger Velasco (Carlos, Turbo-Space) had a supporting role in the independent film "Across the Line," which tells the story of a Latina woman named Miranda who is forced out of her country for standing up for her family. She escapes across the border along with her two brothers. But, when they are separated, she witnesses a horrific murder involving border patrol agents. She keeps quiet to protect herself, not realizing that the agents have pinned the crime on her brothers. Velasco portrays Luciano, one of Miranda's brothers. He appears throughout the film. Keith Robinson on "Over There" - 6 (2005)

Keith Robinson (Joel, Lightspeed) continued his starring role on the FX drama "Over There." In the series' fifth episode, the squad finds themselves constantly looking over their shoulders, as they are followed by a reporter (played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar) who is embedded with their team. Controversy sparks when they come under fire and a woman and child are inadvertantly killed in the process, bringing condemnation down on trigger-happy Smoke (played by Sticky Fingaz). Robinson's character, Angel tries to comfort Smoke with a prayer when it's learned that his mother had a stroke after hearing of the incident. The episode is titled "Embedded."

Michael Copon in "Bring It On: In It to Win It" (2007)

In one of two direct-to-video film sequels on the blog today, Michael Copon (Lucas, Time Force) stars in "Bring It On: In It to Win It," the fourth film in the cheerleading movie franchise. Copon plays the film's leading man, Penn, a male cheerleader, who becomes a love interest for his rival squad's captain, Carson (played by Ashley Benson). Like his PR character, Michael does get to wear a lot of blue for the film. As one of the stars, he appears throughout the movie.
